10月のステップクラスの活動ブログを書いていきます。
今月は、アーサーが所用のため、僕が授業を担当しました。
ここ数年はワンダークラス（高学年のクラス）を担当としていたため、久しぶりのステップクラスです。
今回のテーマは
「日間賀島で謎解きに挑戦しよう」
島全体を使って、子どもたちが謎解きに挑戦していきます。
グループで協力しながら、謎を１つ１つ解いていき、時間内に島のどこかに隠されたお宝を見つけられるか！？という内容です。
朝、駅に集合した子どもたち。
普段ならば、みんなで電車に乗って、移動をしていくところですが
今日はちょっとした冒険要素を加えていきます。
「みんな、おはよう！今日はアーサーに代わってりょうた先生が担当するよ」
「普段りょうた先生は、もう一つ上のワンダークラスを担当しているんだ」
「そこではね、電車も移動もグループで力を合わせて、自分たちの力で向かっていくんだ」
「今日は日間賀島に行くよね。河和駅まで向かい、フェリー乗り場まで向かっていく」
「いつもなら、りょうた先生やアーサーが次にここに行くよ～。電車に乗るよ～って声をかけていたけど、、、」
「今日は自分たちでフェリー乗り場までたどり着ける？」
そんな問いかけを投げかけました。
勿論、最高の笑顔で（笑）
・・・え！？
という表情を見せる子どもたち。
最初は何気なく聞いていた表情が、次第に真剣な表情に変わっていきます。そして一人一人のまなざしに力が入っていきます。
目をキラキラと輝かせる子、少しだけ不安気な表情を見せる子。まだよく分かっていない子。
それでも空気が変わるのを感じます。
それまで少しゆるっとしていた場の空気が、一人一人の気持ちの揺れ動きで、熱を帯びていくのを感じていきます。
そう、まさに冒険の始まりの瞬間ですね。
僕は、この瞬間がめちゃくちゃ好きなんです。
冒険が人を育てる
といつも発信をしていますが、冒険って実はすごく身近にあるものなんです。
ついつい私たちは“冒険”と聞くと、大きな挑戦をイメージしてしまいます。
でも実は、冒険って、いつでも、どこでも始められる
どんな活動でも、どんな場でも、子どもたちが自分たちで考える場さえ作れば、それが冒険に変わっていくんですね。
それがEDUCAMPの思い描く“冒険”です。
話が大きくそれましたが、いよいよ出発です。
出発までにどれだけかかるんだというツッコミはご容赦ください（笑）
さて、グループごとに、電車に乗って移動を始めます。
なんと、全チーム、当初予定していた電車よりも1本早く乗れました！
このあたりからも、子どもたちが自分たちで考えたときの力の大きさが垣間見えてきますね。
面白いのが、誰も僕について来ようとしないことなんです。
当然ながら、僕も同じ方向に進んでいくわけじゃないですか。なので、僕についていけば絶対に迷わないことは分かるはずなんです。
子どもたちからも、「りょうた先生についていけば大丈夫じゃん～」なんて声もチラホラ聞こえてきます。
そして、僕もそれに対して、ダメだよとは一切言っていないんです。
でも、気づけば誰も着いて来ようとする子はいなくなり、みんなグループで相談して進んでいっているんですね。
これって、子どもたち自身が、自分たちで考えて楽しむことを求めている証拠なんじゃないかなと感じます。
上手くいくかどうかは分からない。
でも、自分たちで考えるから楽しい！
そんな気持ちを無意識のうちに感じているんでしょうね。
フェリー乗り場である河和港で待っていたら、続々と子どもたちが集まり始めました。
「あ！りょうた先生いた～！」
「良かった～！合ってた～」
「だから言ったじゃん！合ってるって！！」
そんな話をしあいながらも、どこか誇らしげな表情をする子どもたち。
「ねえねえ、これで僕たち高学年の子たちと同じ力があるってことだよね！」
そんな風に声をかけてきた子もいました。
たったこれだけ。活動場所までの移動の話です。
でも、たったこれだけのことも、捉え方次第で、子どもたちにとっては大きな冒険になるんですね。
勿論、経験によって冒険の作り方は変わります。
この関わり方も、子どもたちがある程度経験を積み重ねてきた、2学期の今だからこそできることです。これを4月にしようと思っても、不安の方が大きくなってしまいますからね。
特にシロクマクラスは全体的に学年も高めで、経験値が大きかったこともあります。
さあ、いよいよフェリーに乗って、日間賀島に向かいます。
そこで、こんな質問をしてきた子がいました。
「りょうた先生～。フェリーの２階に出ても大丈夫？」
「いいよ～。でも風が強いから、帽子が飛ばされるかもしれないね～」
「え～、帽子が飛ばされたら困るじゃん」
「そうかもしれないね。でもりょうた先生は別に困らないよ～」
「なんで？」
「だってりょうた先生の帽子じゃないでしょ？だから、りょうた先生は困らないよ」
「おお、そっかあ」
ニコニコしながらそんな会話をしていきます。
そんな会話にすごく面食らった表情をしていました。
目をパチパチとしながら、キョトンとしています。
まさに、鳩が豆鉄砲を食ったよう、と表現するのでしょうか。
いや～
面白い（笑）
きっとこれまでそんな返し方をされたことが無かったんでしょうね。
「○○してはダメ」
「○○しなさい」
もしもここで、「風が強いから帽子をしまっておきなさい」と最初から指示を出してしまったら、子どもたちは自分で考えなくなってしまいます。
ついつい私たちは、子どもの困りごとを大人が解決しなければと思ってしまいます。
だからこそ、活動の中では、子どもたちが自分で考えられるように関わっていきたいなと思っています。
勿論、質問をしてきた子の性格やタイプによっても、返答の仕方は若干変わっていきますが。
それで、もしも本当に帽子が飛んでいってしまったら、、、
ごめんなさい！
そのため、日間賀島での活動には、飛んでいっても大丈夫な帽子を着用ください。

そんな積み重ねをしていった先に、何があっても自分のことを信じられる子が育っていくと思っています。

お昼ご飯を食べながら、謎解きを！
いや～
謎解き、めちゃくちゃ面白かったですね。
今回の謎解き問題、実は結構難易度が高かったんです。
大人でも、迷ってしまうほどに。
考えて考えて考え抜いて
その先に答えを見つけたとき
全力で喜びあう子どもたちの姿が本当にキラキラと輝いていました。
「すごい！」
「うわ～ありがとおおおお！」
本気の笑顔がそこにはありました。
実は、今回、時間制限ギリギリで、宝箱までたどり着けなかったが１チームだけありました。
それでも、謎を解いているときの姿は、本当に真剣で、頑張っていたんです。
僕も心の中ではすごく葛藤が起こります。
なんとか最後までたどり着いてほしい。
それでもこの場は、子どもたちが本当の意味で冒険をする場。
子どもたちが自分の力で達成したいと頑張っていた、その気持ちを本気で大切にしたい。
その思いで、失敗という結果を残しました。
子どもたちには最初に「時間までにたどり着かなかったら、宝はもらえません」と伝えていたんです。
終わった直後に、グループごとにふりかえりを行っていきました。
達成したグループが大きく盛り上がっているのに対して、そのグループでは、静かにふりかえりを行っていました。
「楽しくなかった」「悔しかった」
そう言葉にしていた子もいます。
その気持ちを一切否定することはありません。
そうやって自分の気持ちを自分で口にすることで、子どもたちは自分の気持ちに整理をしようとしているんですね。
だからひたすら聞いていきます。
冒険をすれば、上手くいくことも、上手くいかないことも、必ず起こります。
すべて楽しかった！で終わらせようとすれば、いつしかその場は、大人が子どもを楽しませる場になってしまい、子どもたちは自分で考えなくなってしまいます。
だからこそ、その場で起こるすべての出来事を子どもたちの学びに変えていく。
簡単なことではありません。
でもそこを大切にしたいからこその
『冒険が人を育てる』なんです。
余談ではありますが、
解散をしたあと、そのグループの子が一人こちらにあるいてきました。
「見て、これもらったの。」
そう見せてくれたのは、今回達成したらもらえるはずだった小さな景品。
「そうなんだ～。どうしたの？」
「○○ちゃんがね、わたしいらないからあげるよ、って、くれたんだ」
「そうなんだ～良かったね」
「うん！！」
そういって走って笑顔で帰っていきました。
その後ろ姿になんだか、じ～んとしてしまいました。
きっとその子は、景品がもらえなかったのに、譲ってもらったことの後ろめたさもどこかにあったのかもしれません。
そんなその子の気持ち。

いろんな葛藤と心の揺れ動きがあったんだろうなあ。
それでも、子どもたちが考えて、自分で決めて、失敗を乗り越えて、、、
笑顔で前に向かって走っていく姿が、僕にはすごく誇らしげに感じたんです。
そんな子どもたちの成長を応援していきたいですね。
